Evangeline Wren - Career Biographer

Behind the Desk with On Record.

Hi, my name is Evangeline and I am the person behind Wren & Done On Record.

Why create On Record by Wren? Because, I don't believe a person can always be summed up by a job title, a qualification or a list of duties. Everyone has a story made up of experiences, skills, challenges, interests, wins, lessons and moments that have helped shape what they're capable of.

I take my job seriously working to bring value and to help find those things - then put everything into words.

It started with my own blank pages.

I'm not someone who woke up one morning and decided to become a career consultant.

Over the years, I created what felt like hundreds of versions of my own resume. Different jobs, different directions, different stages of life — and plenty of time spent staring at a blank page wondering how to explain what I could actually do.

Somewhere along the way, I became good at it.

I started helping family and friends put their experience into words too. Then came more resumes, more applications, more stories and more opportunities to see just how much people struggle to talk about themselves, especially when they have to put it on paper.

That experience has built over many years. Now, I'm ready to give this work my full focus and help more people tell their stories properly.

I like to start from scratch.

Almost every application I work on starts with a blank page.

That might sound strange when you already have a resume sitting in front of you, but before I want to see what you've written, I want to get to know you.

I want to hear about what you've done, what you've learned, what you're good at, where you've been and, just as importantly, where you'd like to go next. Because sometimes the best information I find isn't already sitting on your resume.

My approach is about looking beyond job titles and standard responsibilities to find the things that demonstrate your capabilities. You don't always need impressive numbers, percentages or a long list of awards to show an employer what you're capable of.

Sometimes the strongest evidence comes from a real-life example and knowing how to put that example into the right words. That's where I come in.

Your more than just a document.

As a prior university student I know how hard it is to find work during and after studies. I have been working a lot with students and graduates who are preparing to take their next step however, the doors have been opened and I am available to help no matter where you career is at. Right now.

Whether you're starting with very little work experience, changing direction or simply unsure how to translate everything you've learned into something an employer will understand, we'll work through it together.

We'll explore your experience, capabilities, skills and ambitions and work out how they fit together. The goal isn't just to create a polished resume. It's to help you better understand what you bring to the table and put you in a stronger position for wherever you want to go next.

Local, flexible and easy to talk to.

I'm Perth based and available to meet with clients across the city, NOR and SOR. If you're a student or graduate, I can even meet you on your university campus.

You don't need to have everything figured out before we meet. You don't need the perfect resume, the perfect career plan or all the answers.

I can help you start or continue off from where you left off.

We'll start with you, work through the details and turn your experience into something clear, genuine and useful.

Your story has already been written. Let's make sure it says something worth reading.

I've written plenty of resumes over the years, but this was the first time someone really took the time to understand how I work before putting anything on paper. The final result felt personal, clear and genuinely reflected my experience.

Daniel Wright — Operations Coordinator

I genuinely didn't think I had enough experience to work with. The process helped me see things differently and brought out skills and examples I wouldn't have thought to include. My resume still sounds like me, just much better put together.

...Wren on the Record

I have spent more than 16 years learning how to articulate someone's skillset, in life and in careers... in all sorts of places, alongside all sorts of people.

My experience has taken me behind the desk, into business operations, alongside recruiters and into recruitment itself. I've helped people put their skills and experience into words, worked across different industries and stepped into roles that required me to learn quickly, ask questions and work things out.

My career hasn't followed one straight line, and I understand why, how can I help others if I havent experienced it myself.

Along the way, I've learned from everything I've done. From researching trucks and comparing the practical details that matter before a major purchase, to reviewing how businesses run behind the scenes. From building brands and business systems to working through the details that keep an operation moving. Some experiences have been expected. Others have been a little random, unusual or completely unrelated — until you look closely enough to see what they taught me.

That's something I genuinely believe: very little experience is wasted.

A job you didn't enjoy. A side project that didn't last. A hobby you've taken seriously. A problem you learned how to solve. They can all tell us something about what you're capable of.

More than a resume writer.

The work I do starts with you.

I take the time to understand where you've been, what you know, what you're good at and what you care about. I research, ask questions and look for the connections between your experiences.

Then we put it into words.

That might mean creating career documents that clearly demonstrate your capabilities. But it can also mean something bigger: helping you recognise a passion worth pursuing, finding connections you hadn't noticed or opening a doorway into a new phase of your career.

Whether you're changing direction entirely, building on what you already do or simply trying to work out what comes next, there's usually more to work with than you think.

Because honestly? No one is boring. No one is just one thing.

Everyone has a story, and usually, it gets much more interesting once you start asking the right questions.

Learning has never been a straight line either.

My educational path has been much the same.

I finished high school, worked full-time and eventually went to university. I tried the traditional degree path more than once and realised that committing to one qualification and one direction wasn't the right way for me to learn.

So I found a different way.

These days, I study individual university units because something has caught my attention and I want to understand it better. Sometimes it's directly useful. Sometimes I'm simply curious.

For me, learning doesn't need to fit neatly into a box to be valuable.

A little understanding goes a long way.

I come from a humble background, and I've met people from many different walks of life.

I understand that a career isn't always a simple progression from one job to the next. Life happens. Health changes. People move countries and start again. Opportunities aren't always equally available.

That doesn't mean there isn't a story worth telling.

I aim to create a space where people feel comfortable talking about their experiences, whatever their background or circumstances. My job isn't to judge where you've been. It's to listen, understand and help you work out how your experiences can support where you'd like to go next.

We'll start with where you are and see where your story can take you.
